Why these five parts
People reread meeting notes to answer three questions: what did we decide, what do I owe, and what's still unresolved. Everything else is optional. A short purpose line keeps the notes findable, and the next meeting keeps the thread going.
Tips that keep notes useful
- Write decisions as sentences someone outside the meeting would understand.
- Every action item needs one owner and a date. "We" is not an owner.
- Send the notes within an hour, while people still remember.
- Keep open questions separate from decisions so nothing looks settled when it isn't.
Letting AI fill it in
Timo produces these same parts automatically from a recording: summary, decisions, action items with owners and dates, open questions and the transcript. You review and accept the action items instead of typing them.

Questions
What should meeting notes include?
The purpose, the decisions, action items with an owner and a due date, open questions and the next meeting.
How long should meeting notes be?
Short enough to read in a minute. Most meetings fit on half a page when you record decisions and actions rather than everything said.
Can I use this template for free?
Yes. Copy it and use it however you like.
