Phone calls
AI notes for phone calls
Phones don't let apps record calls directly, so Timo gives you three ways: put the call on speaker and record on another device, take the call on a computer where Timo can hear it, or upload a recording you already have.
| How it records | No bot joins the call. Timo records on your own device. |
|---|---|
| Uploads | Upload a recording you already have (m4a, mp3, wav, ogg, webm, aac or mp4). |
| What you get | A summary, the decisions, action items with owners and dates, open questions and the full transcript. Action items can become tasks and be placed on Google Calendar. |

Three ways that work
Each one captures both sides of the conversation.
- Speaker plus a second device: put the call on speaker and record with Timo on a laptop or tablet next to it.
- Take the call on a computer: if the call runs in a browser tab, in desktop Chrome, Edge or Arc, choose "Recording a call?" and share the meeting's tab with its audio. Timo then records both sides of the call along with your microphone.
- Upload afterwards: if a call recorder saved the audio, upload the file (m4a, mp3, wav, ogg, webm, aac or mp4) and Timo writes the notes.
Consent comes first
Many places require everyone on a call to agree to it being recorded. Tell the other person at the start, and check the rules where you and they are.
What you get
A summary, any decisions, the action items with dates, open questions and the transcript. Accepted action items can go on your Google Calendar.
Is Timo the right fit?
Timo fits when
- You take important calls and lose the details afterwards.
- You can use speaker mode or take calls on a computer.
- You already have call recordings you want summarised.
Look elsewhere when
- You need automatic recording of every call from a phone system; that needs a dialer integration Timo doesn't have.
- You can't use speaker mode or a second device.
